Consumer Financial Education Forum is designed to help fill a gap that exists in providing credible, objective informational resources on consumer financial issues for educational purposes. It is believed that millions of Americans lack the basic financial education necessary to make well informed decisions on personal financial matters. This lack of consumer financial education has nothing to do with individual intelligence and academic qualification. It has to do with a lack of exposure and tutoring in personal financial educational subject matters.

If an individual had never been taught how to operate a particular gadget that requires specialized knowledge, such an individual would be challenged to operate the gadget regardless of personal intelligence and academic standing. The same goes for financial matters. If one has never been exposed to or acquired knowledge about mortgages and home financing products and options, such an individual would be at a disadvantage when faced with the decision on how to go about financing the purchase of a home. This example is a reality for millions of Americans who venture into home ownership, with their only knowledge about home financing being that which is selectively passed on to them by the mortgage brokers and other loan consultants to whom they go seeking home loans, and who tend to have a natural conflict of interest in providing objective information.

This forum intends to share objective information without the conflict of interest disadvantage. It hopes to engage the consumer into an interactive exchange of sharing knowledge and experience with other readers. The discussion forum is designed specifically for this purpose. You may ask questions, share your knowledge and information on objective and reliable sources of information for research and further learning. We will however caution that you verify and seek appropriate independent professional advice before you act on any information provided, since each individual case might be unique and requires such specific individual professional evaluation and advice.
